What, no election talk on the forum this morning?? So are most of us just so elated that we're speechless...or are some still licking their wounds. I'm surprised no one has started a thread on the election outcome yet...not even that winning crustacean himself, Barack Lobster!
I will simply say that the song "Oh Happy Day" has been floating through my head nonstop since last night.
Any polling place horror stories to share? Or answer to these two questions...
Why doesn't everyone choose mail in voting with all the polling place problems we've experienced or witnessed in the last three presendential elections? (I've used it for years....piece of cake and in my opinion, as safe as what happens at the polls.)
How and when and is this country going to fix the polling system nightmare?
As an entrepreneur, do you think the new administration will positively affect your business, and if so how?
Why the heck do people not vote? I had a first (and last) date with a man last weekend who never votes. He said that it doesn't matter who's in office, as none of it affects his life. What?? I cannot wrap my brain around this and have no respect for this attitude. Even after some discussion, his reasoning was completely illogical. Honestly, I take it as a sign that he is too lazy or not bright enough to educate himself on the candidtaes and the issues.

I have been doing absentee voting for years now. It's so much better and you don't have to worry about polling hours, traffic, waiting in line, etc.
I hope last night was testimony to the hope that people have. Not just a win, but an ass-kicking! Holy smokes!
Props up to McCain for a good concession speech for the most part.

I'm getting all my post-election day chatter on Twitter. It was fun scrolling through in real time as the results were coming in.
I love your questions, Nancy! I do think having a President who will lead with integrity and intelligence can only mean positive things all around, here in the U.S. and internationally. If my business gets a boost, that's merely icing on the cake. I'm plenty grateful as is, with Obama coming to the White House.
I used to be very interested in politics and then I thought it didn't matter. After the last eight years, I realize it DOES matter. What I don't like is that during election years, everyone seems to have a three minute speech about their vote. Too often, there is one issue that decides it. I once met a person who did not vote for Clinton because his lips stuck to his teeth when he talked. My goodness!
Watching TV last night, Barack looked like a rock star! I did not vote for McCain but felt bad for him. I admire him and consider him a true patriot. I just could not give him my vote.
I also think that the two candidates were much more alike than different. I would have been ok with either.
Another things I don't like is that Americans are much more alike than different and these elections seem to divide people unnecessarily. Have no idea if this is responsive but what really is responsive when discussing politics?
You know, McCain gave a gracious concession speech (minus his boo-ers). I don't really feel bad for him, though. He charted his course, communicated his plan, and it wasn't my vision for America (or obviously, a lot of other people's).
But, even though I supported Hillary, it was a momentous moment.
The thing is, I'm not looking for a rock star. Don't need that in a president. Just want someone who understands the problems of the "middle class" and will finally give us our due.
I don't like the divisions either, Darol.
But I wouldn't have been "okay with either." Obama wasn't my first choice (my daughter was an Obama delegate and I was an alternate delegate to the Democratic national convention in 1972– talk about full circle!), but I say, let's give him a chance. He certainly has his work cut out for him.
The time is ripe for viable Third Parties to get their acts together.
