  • Dan and Lara named among TOP 25 Innovators and Entrepreneurs

The latest issue of Seattle Business (Vol 3, #10) recognizes Dan and Lara as among the Top 25 Innovators and Entrepreneurs in their lead cover article. Congratulations to these "Power Players". But then we knew that already, didn't we?

  • More well deserved congratulations for Lara and Dan and company

I was relaxing after dinner, reading the day's mail, when I started reading the latest issue of Seattle Business (July 2008).

On page 18, header: "brightidea/spotlighting inspiration, title: Minding Your Own Biznik" was a great shot of Lara and Dan and a very nice article about our founders' "Thang"" by Lilium Pierson.

It's really a nice feeling to be associated with such a fine couple of folks and their (our) community.

    Rock on!

  • Connect @ the Folklife Festival, Seattle, Memorial Day weekend

    Y'all,

I've been going to this event for decades. It's the official start of my Summer (ignoring the weather). Who's going to be there, when and where? It would be good to connect and share some of the action with some Bizniks.

Report in with your plans and maybe some of us can connect.

Be there or be square (oops, does that date me?).

    John

  • Customizing the Biznik user interface? Desireable? Possible?

There are websites out there (Facebook being one example) that allow users/members some freedom to customize layout and content to suit their needs and interests.

Given some of the talk on our site regarding usability and the relative importance of various features on the site, I would like to pose three questions.

    1. Would such a capability be of value to members?
    2. Should this feature be available to paying members only or all members?
    3. Is this a site feature that is technically feasible, given the platform used for this website?

  • Calling all Antioch grads/faculty

On 03/06/07, Annie Jacobsen made the following post to Biz Talk.

After discussing it with Annie, we are reviving the post; it stands as originally written.

All members of Biznik who are Antioch grads and/or faculty are invited to respond.

Calling all OSR & WSD graduates

I am learning there are quite a few OSR/WSD graduates, or Antioch graduates in general, that have found their way to Biznik. I'd love to get a group together to just socialize and pontificate (it's been too many years since grad school!) about our curious areas of study ~ and how it's informed where we find ourselves currently.

Before posting an event ~ I thought I'd take a read and see if there is other interest, as well."

  • Paid opinion research study

Y'all (especially Biznik members 18-24 years of age in the greater Seattle area),

Below is an email I just got. Look specifically, at items A and F. Study A is an opportunity to sound off on social network sites, including BIZNIK. Study F is for Hispanic and Latino business owners.

I'm on their email list and have taken part in quite a few studies over the years. This is a legitimate opinion research firm.

Look also at the paragraph that encourages those who receive these to share the announcement with others.

Note that participants in this these studies are paid some sort of honorarium.

Contact me if you have questions.

  • Big storm vs. business

I'm wondering how all you Pac NW Bizniks did in the big storm, with its ongoing effects for some. How are things generally? More pertinent for a business networking group, what effects, if any, were there for your business. Is there any interest out there for some discussion of business and personal disaster planning?
